 The purpose of a smash cut is to jar the audience with sudden and unexpected change in image or sound.

PLANNING: STORYBOARD

We made a story board to create a rough idea of how our film trailer would flow. However, because we are making a film trailer it won't flow as well as we will include hard cuts to help the trailer go from one scene to another at a quick pace. While watching trailers I have learnt that they flow nicely in the beginning but start to jump from scene to scene towards the end to create suspense. Although, we know that it won't flow nicely like our storyboard shows it gives us an idea of the scenes we want in the trailer.
